FMCG COMPANY, based in the Western Cape and committed to creating innovative, high-quality skincare and cosmetic products that inspire confidence and beauty, is looking for a passionate and detail-oriented cosmetics formulatory chemist to join their dynamic team.The role requires a candidate with a deep understanding of cosmetic ingredients, product formulation and industry trends. Key Responsibilities:- Develop and formulate a wide range of skincare, haircare, and cosmetic products in line with market trends and customer needs.
- Conduct in-depth research and testing of ingredients to ensure product safety, stability, and efficacy.
- Perform product performance and safety testing to ensure formulations meet regulatory and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the R&D, marketing, and production teams to bring new products from concept to launch.
- Stay up to date with the latest cosmetic and skincare ingredients, formulation techniques, and industry regulations.
- Troubleshoot and optimize formulations for performance, texture, appearance, and stability.
- Ensure all products comply with local and international regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EU Cosmetics Regulations).
- Document and report all formulations, testing results, and product development processes accurately
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field, PLUS:
- At least 8-10 years of experience in cosmetic formulation, preferably in skincare, haircare, OR colour cosmetics.
- Strong knowledge of raw materials, actives, emulsifiers, preservatives, and stabilizers used in cosmetics.
- Experience with regulatory requirements and product testing standards
