The Stock Controller is responsible for managing multiple warehouses with over 35,000 line items, totaling approximately R200 million in inventory. This includes various manufactured items (both locally produced and imported) and buyouts from multiple suppliers, each with different lead times. Operating in a fast-paced, high-demand environment that supplies industrial industries, this role ensures optimal stock levels to maintain customer uptime and product availability. Strong proficiency in Excel and Syspro is essential for managing complex inventory systems effectively.
This role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented individual with strong numerical and inventory skills. The Stock Controller plays a critical role in maintaining product availability, supporting efficient business operations, and ensuring that inventory levels align with company requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor stock levels and ensure appropriate quantities of items are maintained to meet demand without overstocking or understocking.
Conduct regular stock counts and audits to ensure accuracy and reconcile discrepancies with inventory records.
Track slow-moving and redundant stock and report findings to management.
Coordinate with the procurement and sales team to reorder products based on predefined reorder points or minimum stock levels.
Maintain accurate stock records and conduct routine stock inspections.
Ensure stock is stored correctly and securely in designated locations.
Coordinate stock movements, transfers, and returns with relevant departments.
Assist in stock audits and provide reports on stock status.
Maintain a clean and organized stock area to facilitate efficient operations.
Adhere to health and safety regulations in the handling and storage of stock.
Stock Control & Reporting:
Record and investigate any stock discrepancies and work to identify causes and prevent future issues (this is a critical responsibility).
Prepare and submit regular reports on stock levels, stock movement, and any discrepancies to the National Warehouse Manager.
Generate and interpret data from inventory software, producing reports for management use.
Requirements:
Requirements:Education: Grade 12 or equivalent is a must; additional qualifications in logistics, supply chain, or inventory management are advantageous.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in stock control or inventory management, particularly in handling the number of line items and stock value mentioned in the job overview.
