Hire Resolve's client, a leading consultancy is seeking a Senior Renewables Engineer to provide technical expertise for utility-scale (5MW+) Solar PV and Wind Energy projects in Southern Africa, with potential support for international projects. The role requires a strong background in technical advisory, project management, and business development within the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
Technical (70%)

Lead high-quality technical advisory work for solar and wind energy projects.

Oversee project management and coordination across engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, instrumentation).

Provide technical assessments, feasibility studies, and risk management.
-
Review project designs and recommend improvements.
-
Prepare and manage technical specifications, bills of materials, and procurement contracts.
-
Conduct due diligence and support financial closure processes.
-
Monitor project construction, conduct site visits, and oversee commissioning.

Mentor junior engineers, reviewing and approving their work.
Business Development (30%)
-
Develop and execute sales strategies for South Africa and regional markets (Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe).

Prepare and manage client proposals for due diligence, owner’s engineering, and advisory services.
-
Build and maintain client relationships, ensuring high-quality account management.
-
Represent the company in meetings and industry events.
Requirements

Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (BSc/BTech).

7+ years' experience in Solar PV (Wind experience is an advantage).
-
Experience with REIPPP and international renewable energy projects.

Expertise in solar PV technologies, plant lifecycle, feasibility, and design .

Technical advisory experience with investors, developers, and financial institutions.

Strong project management, technical report writing, and communication skills.
-
ECSA registration (Candidate or Professional preferred).

Ability to work independently and travel (up to 50%, including international travel).
