Description:

The Department of Civil Engineering is looking to hire a qualified person for the post of Lecturer in the Construction Studies discipline. The post is a full-time permanent position. The appointment is for the Midlands Diploma Programme.

Minimum Requirements

  • A relevant Master’s Degree in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying
  • At least 3 years of University teaching/ professional experience
  • Good communication and lecturing skills

Additional Requirements

  • Qualification that qualifies you to register as a Professional Construction Project Manager or a Professional Quantity Surveyor
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are already registered as a Professional Construction Project Manager with the SACPCMP or a Professional Quantity Surveyor with SACQSP
  • Evidence of research would be an added advantage
  • A strong passion for teaching, research, and community engagement

Summary of Duties

  • Required to lecture in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Quantity Surveying, and other related subjects in the Construction Studies programme.
  • Undertake and supervise tutorials.
  • Knowledge of online learning software, e.g., Moodle, MS Teams.
  • Development and writing of learning materials for Construction Studies modules.
  • Be willing to participate in curriculum development.
  • Active involvement in research activities.
  • Active participation in industrial projects.
  • Engage in community projects /External Engagement Services, including playing an active role in the functioning of Professional and subject-related associations.
  • Undertake administration and other academic duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
