Duties & Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Design:Â Develop electrical and instrumentation designs aligned with project scope and business objectives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to applicable SANS Standards, international electrical codes, the MHS Act, and the OHS Act.
- Cost & Quality Management:Â Design cost-effective and high-quality electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Client Liaison:Â Engage with clients to understand design specifications and ensure project requirements are met.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare scope of work, specifications, bill of quantities, and tender documents.
- Manufacturing & Implementation:Â Compile technical data packs for manufacturing and software engineering phases.
- Testing & Commissioning:Â Oversee testing of manufactured equipment and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Team Leadership: Guide draughts persons and junior engineers to ensure optimal resource utilisation and professional growth.
- Site Audits & Feasibility Studies: Conduct on-site assessments to identify potential improvements and compliance with industry best practices.
- After-Service Support:Â Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for clients post-installation.
Experience & Qualification
- Education:Â Degree/Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent NQF qualification.
- Experience:Â 3 - 6 years of design and engineering experience, including exposure to relevant design software.
- Industry Exposure:Â Experience in mining industry designs, industrial plants, and process engineering.
- Standards & Regulations: Knowledge of SANS Standards, international electrical and instrumentation standards, MHS Act, and OHS Act.Â
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in PLC and SCADA systems.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Projects).
