Financial Manager ( Mining / Finance / Reporting / CA ) (1 Year Contract)
Our client is an established mining company seeking full function financial accounting secondment services. The person seconded will work with our client's team comprising of three accounts clerks, one tax officer and two financial accountants to manage financial processing of transactions and financial reporting.
Our client uses Pastel Evolution looking at possibility of migrating to Sage X3 ERP.
Responsibilities: Operation Management: Maintenance of the general ledger by supervising the processing of accounts payables, accounts receivables, bank transactions, fixed assets in the general ledger. Review account reconciliations, review and clear balance sheet control accounts on a monthly basis. Perform reviews of reconciliations to ensure that recons are accurate, complete, valid and ensure reconciling items are cleared timeously. Prepare monthly and yearend reporting packs. Perform monthly cost base reviews. Develop financial reports including cash flows to assist management in making appropriate decisions. Manage General Ledger and Subsidiary Ledger reconciliations. Clear all exceptions so that all transactions are validated and correctly accounted for. Performing month-end / year-end closure process. Assist in the development, review and implementation of related policies and procedures. Assist with the annual verification of audit files in preparation for the external audit. Undertake general accounting and administrative duties such as journal reviews. Collaborate with financial team and other departments. Close the accounting period in the accounting system after reconciliations are signed off. Keeping of a fixed asset register. Stock management. Governance & Audit: Participate in external audits and provide all information required timeously and timely close out audit findings. Prepare responses timeously for auditors.
Implement agreed remedial measures on completion of audits. Evaluate financial processes and implement corrective actions to ensure alignment and standardisation within the Group. Review general ledger activities for compliance with regulatory standards. Prepare financial and management statements in accordance International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Identify and propose changes to accounting system to ensure build in controls are updated. Reporting: Produce accurate and timeous financial reports. Evaluate operational and financial reports to improve accuracy and relevance. Financial Management: Utilise resources in a cost-effective manner to reduce and eliminate wastage. Tax: Give advice on tax administration and legislation- (VAT, Income tax, Mining Royalty). Review calculations for tax payments.
