Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Listed Credit Analyst with a background in asset management, particularly in analyzing public companies and debt instruments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in assessing P/E ratios, negotiating DMTNs to ASISA standards, and executing investment strategies in a fast-paced, high-performing environment. Key Responsibilities:
Investment & Credit Analysis:
  • Analyze financial, risk, and operational aspects of public companies and listed debt instruments.
  • Perform in-depth industry, economic, and company-specific research to inform investment decisions.
  • Assess P/E ratios and other key financial metrics to evaluate the value and risks of investments.
  • Utilize credit ratings, market trends, and other factors to develop strategies for trading and pricing listed credits and debt instruments.
  • Present oral and written investment recommendations to the Credit Committee.
  • Review existing transactions and advise on strategies such as hold/sell/buy based on ongoing analysis.
Deal Origination & Structuring:
  • Source and evaluate investment opportunities in the listed credit, secondary markets, and debt instruments, ensuring alignment with client goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with intermediaries and key stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiations and structuring of DMTNs to ASISA standards.
  • Collaborate with legal advisors to ensure solid legal protections in all deal documentation.
Portfolio & Data Management:
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of listed credit counterparties, debt instruments, and assets.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of investment data used for portfolio decision-making.
  • Contribute to valuation processes, ensuring appropriate methodologies are applied.
Stakeholder Engagement & Thought Leadership:
  • Participate in internal initiatives related to listed bonds, debt instruments, and process improvements.
  • Contribute to client presentations, discussions, and other marketing materials.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Essential: BCom Finance Honours (or equivalent).
  • Advantageous: CA(SA), CFA candidate, or other relevant professional qualifications.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in asset management, with a strong focus on public companies, listed credit analysis, and debt instruments.
  • Experience negotiating and structuring DMTNs to ASISA standards is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for investing and analyzing public companies and debt instruments.
