Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Facilities Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair operations of multiple luxury safari lodging facilities within a prestigious game reserve. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Facilities Maintenance Manager will ensure that all facilities, equipment, and systems are maintained to the highest standards to provide an uninterrupted five-star safari experience. This role includes managing teams of maintenance staff, implementing preventative maintenance schedules, and ensuring the smooth operation of all reserve facilities. Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and coordinate all maintenance activities across multiple safari lodges, including repairs, renovations, and upkeep of rooms, buildings, staff accommodations, mechanical systems, and other infrastructure.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure the facilities are always ready for guest use.
- Lead, train, and manage maintenance teams at each facility, ensuring high performance and staff development.
- Oversee the preventative and statutory maintenance of the vehicle fleet, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Manage external contractors to ensure services are performed to high standards and in accordance with contracts and warranties.
- Ensure emergency equipment, water, and electrical supplies are consistently operational.
- Address safety and functionality concerns promptly, maintaining a safe working and guest environment.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance work conducted, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the maintenance department budget, control expenditure, and provide regular reports to the General Manager and Finance Manager.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in Heads of Department (HOD) meetings and other necessary meetings.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a maintenance management role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Relevant technical qualifications (e.g., electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering).
- Strong knowledge of facilities management, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between facilities.
