Job Description:
Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of fixed asset purchases in financial records
Monitor asset movements, including transfers and disposals, in accordance with accounting policies
Ensure adherence to internal and external audit standards
Prepare and process month-end journal entries accurately and on time
Conduct monthly reviews and reconciliations of income statements and balance sheets
Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records before month-end closure
Calculate and submit monthly tax figures, ensuring accurate journal entries
Manage the preparation and submission of income tax returns, provisional tax payments, and VAT returns
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and submission deadlines
Compile annual financial statements and statutory reports within required timeframes
Stay informed on updates to international accounting standards and communicate relevant changes
Maintain compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and internal controls
Collaborate with external auditors and ensure audit findings are addressed promptly
Review and authorize supplier invoices and payments in a timely manner
Adapt financial processes to meet the changing needs of the business
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 35 years experience in an accountant role
Strong financial and accounting knowledge
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
Knowledge of South African tax laws and GAAP
Experience managing a fixed asset register
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Effective communication and stakeholder management
Experience with audits and compliance
Qualification:
Relevant completed degree and minimum of 3-5 years of financial accounting experience or Completed articles with minimum of 3-5 of financial accounting experience
