Our client, a prestigious luxury lodge and hotel group, is seeking an experienced General Operations Manager to oversee the small luxury lodge division of the group. Based in Johannesburg, the General Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of a portfolio of exclusive lodges in South Africa, ensuring guest satisfaction, team leadership, and achieving financial objectives. As the General Operations Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of excellence across the lodges, with a focus on operational efficiency, sustainable practices, and overall guest experience. You will work closely with the Lodge Resident Managers, senior management, and cross-functional teams to drive operational success. Key Responsibilities:- Property Management: Oversee the operations of multiple luxury lodge properties within the group.
- Operational Management: Ensure smooth day-to-day operations, manage budgets, track revenue and expenses, and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement operational strategies that align with organizational goals, collaborating with senior management for long-term planning.
- Resource Management: Allocate and optimize resources, including personnel, equipment, and finances, to maximize efficiency.
- Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve operational processes to enhance productivity.
- Team Leadership: Lead, train, and motivate operations teams, fostering a collaborative work environment and maintaining high team morale.
- Quality Control: Implement and enforce high-quality standards, ensuring exceptional service and product delivery.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate challenges.
- Technology Integration: Evaluate and implement technological solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
- Communication and Collaboration: Ensure effective communication between departments, aligning all operations with company goals.
- Matric is required; a tertiary qualification in Sales & Marketing or Hospitality is advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years of General Management experience in a luxury lodge environment, with a proven track record in hospitality.
- Formal Hospitality Degree/Diploma preferable.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to handle pressure and resolve conflicts efficiently.
- Valid RSA ID, Driver's License, and Own Vehicle required.
- Knowledge of Game Reserve Operations and luxury safari standards is essential.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; knowledge of OPERA PMS, NEBULA, and APEX Systems beneficial.
- Ability to travel extensively to lodge properties in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
