Our client is seeking a passionate and energetic Junior Field Guide to join their team at their luxury 4-star game lodge. As a Junior Field Guide, you will assist in guiding guests through the African bush, providing them with an exceptional wildlife and nature experience. You will work under the supervision of senior guides to deliver informative, safe, and memorable game drives and walking safaris. Key Responsibilities:- Assist in conducting game drives and nature walks, ensuring guests’ safety and enjoyment.
- Provide engaging and informative commentary on the local wildlife, flora, and ecosystem.
- Monitor guest safety and well-being during all activities.
- Ensure the lodge vehicle and equipment are properly maintained.
- Assist with lodge operations, including guest check-ins and preparation for safaris.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance your guiding knowledge and skills.
- Valid Field Guide Level 1 qualification (FGASA) or equivalent.
- First Aid Level 1 certificate.
- A passion for wildlife and conservation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late afternoons, and weekends.
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
- Previous guiding experience (internships or volunteer work) is an advantage, but not required.
- Must be physically fit and comfortable working in outdoor, remote environments.
- A driver’s license (Code B) is essential; 4x4 driving experience is a plus.
- Fluent in English (additional languages are a bonus).
