Description:
Hire Resolve’s client in the food industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a Maintenance Fitter in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct and coordinate all maintenance on machinery and equipment in the departments.
- Complete maintenance checks and programs for each machine as per schedule.
- Build an inventory of spares for the machines and control spares usage and costs.
- Properly maintain maintenance records as per requirements.
- Identify and achieve measurable technical and process developments and improvements.
- Attend to breakdowns.
- Order necessary equipment and tools for the factory when required.
- Attend relevant meetings, such as production meetings, where necessary.
- Assist production in achieving optimum efficiencies.
- Identify faults, perform root cause analysis, and ensure accurate completion of production logs and job cards.
- Advise on and implement technical and cost-effective improvements where appropriate.
- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety procedures.
- Be available for callouts after hours.
- Ensure maintenance work is performed in line with agreed expectations, timelines, and company standards.
- Coach, mentor, and train apprentices as required.
- Interact effectively with employees at different levels.
- Collaborate with integrity, honesty, and willingness to assist at different sites within Port Elizabeth as needed.
- Perform duties in line with the maintenance program and continuous improvements.
- Identify and solve problems effectively.
- Apply a logical, systematic approach with the ability to perform minor electronic fault-finding (advantageous).
- Exhibit a passion for the quality of work performed.
- Demonstrate good communication skills.
- Be willing to work overtime when necessary.
- Possess HACCP and GMP knowledge (advantageous).
- Have experience in the food industry (advantageous but not essential).
- Experience working with boilers, ovens, and packing machines is advantageous.
Requirements:
- Qualified Red Seal Artisan.
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualifying experience in a production or maintenance environment.
- Experience working with boilers, ovens, and packing machines
- Experience in welding stainless steel, mild steel, and alloy steel (advantageous but not essential).
- Proficiency in English and any other official language, both written and verbal.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
