General Description
As Head of Department (HOD) you are responsible for leading, managing and developing a department to ensure high standards of excellence, while also managing staff, resources, budgets, sales, stocks and promoting a positive learning environment.
Sales responsibilities include being responsible for communicating the benefits of a company's products to drive sales. Serve as the point of contact between a business and its prospects or clients and have a range of responsibilities including identifying and educating prospective customers while supporting existing clients with information and assistance that relates to products and services
Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Strategic Planning – Developing and implementing departmental plans that align with the overall organizational goals.
• Staff Management – Managing, developing, assisting, monitoring and training of staff to ensure high performance and professional development.
• Policy Implementation – Ensuring that department policies and procedures are followed and that staff are aware of them.
• Communication – Keeping staff and stakeholders informed about departmental activities and developments.
• Problem Solving – Addressing issues and challenges within the departments in a timely and effective manner.
• Collaboration – Working with other departments and stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.
• Representing the Department – Representing the department at meetings and events.
• Present, promote and sell products/services to existing and prospective customers
• Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis of existing/potential customers to meet their needs.
• Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships.
• Reach out to existing customers as well as accompanying staff on visits to their customers.
• As per the need of the business, assist with customer requests and or short falls in deliveries.
• Follow up on referrals of new customers as per the need of the business.
• Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction.
• Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within schedule.
• Monitor stock levels to ensure minimum stock holding is maintained.
• Maintain and monitor stock levels at consignment stock customers, stock to be physically counted on a monthly basis.
• Coordinate sales effort with team members and other departments.
• Analyze the territory/market’s potential, track sales and status reports.
• Monitor and track potential competitor activity.
• Investigate industry networks/expos to drive or source potential business.
• All customers to be vetted prior to approval of credit application.
• Follow up with customers on outstanding debts.
• Continuously improve through feedback.
• Submit monthly and weekly sales reports.
• Attend weekly & monthly (MMM) Sales Meetings.
• Assist in coordinating any promotional events.
• Comply with company policies and processes.
• Manage and assist with any changes required on back end for Repsly sales app.
• Complete any and all duties, as required from time to time, that fall outside the employees’ general scope of daily duties.
Requirements:
- Sales Management: 5 to 6 years
- Achieving Sales Targets: 5 to 6 years
- Motivating Staff: 5 to 6 years
- Non Ferrous Metals Experience: 5 to 6 years
- Developing And Managing A Team: 5 to 6 years
Minimum Required Qualifications
• Education
Grade 12 (Matric)
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
Course in metallurgy
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Specialized knowledge
Proven work experience as a Sales Representative in a similar industrial industry

Excellent knowledge of MS Office
Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales
Excellent selling, negotiation, and communication skills

Working conditions
The candidate will be required to work in General Shift and extended working hours as and when required.
