The ideal candidate must have a Grade 12 qualification with English as a subject, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate strong numeracy abilities. A minimum of 2 years' operator experience in a similar environment is required. The successful candidate must be capable of fully understanding and carrying out Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operating Machine Instructions, with previous experience working with a Human Machine Interface (HMI). Additionally, knowledge of Critical Control Points (CCPs), including Legal Alcohol Indication, and familiarity with Printing and Labelling production processes are essential. DUTIES:
Machine Operation:
- Carries out operating activities according to the Standard Operating Procedures/Instructions.
- Monitors the processing of the Printing and Labelling operation to ensure the smooth flow of production and quality by performing physical checks at regular intervals.
- Carries out sanitation instructions to ensure effective sanitation of the line and surrounding areas.
- Ensures the machine is running at the correct specifications and standards by regularly checking the calibration and settings of the machine.
- Checks that the labelling application, i.e., efficient operation of blowers and heat tunnels, and any other requirements, are according to set specifications.
- Makes the necessary basic machine specification changes when changing from one product to the next, by making basic adjustments using tools and/or adjustment handles during product changeovers.
Bottle Filling Processes:
- Checks that the correct raw materials are used for each production run to ensure the product specifications meet the requirements for the specified product.
- Loads the labelling machine with the correct labelling materials, ensuring the correct operating procedures are followed.
- Checks and verifies that the relevant product documentation (QC Production Record Pack) is completed accurately and on time according to quality control requirements.
- Attends promptly to processing problems to ensure minimal quality and production efficiency losses.
- Identifies potential machine problems and advises the Shift Supervisor accordingly.
Quality Management System:
- Checks and verifies product specifications to prevent incorrect products from being produced, which could cause waste, re-runs, and negatively affect efficiency targets.
- Checks and verifies that all quality control procedures are followed and that all required documentation is completed correctly with every production run.
- Adheres to QMS standards and procedures.
Health, Safety, and Housekeeping:
- Ensures compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures, reporting any unsafe acts immediately.
- Checks CCPs, including Legal Alcohol Indication.
- Ensures HACCP principles are adhered to and participates in annual HACCP training.
- Adheres to the protective clothing policy.
- Ensures that all equipment, tools, etc., provided by the employer are safe and well-maintained.
- Attends First Aid and Fire Fighting Training as supplied by HOOW, if required.
- Ensures housekeeping is kept in order and meets required standards, ensuring all areas of responsibility are clean and neat.
HOURS:
- Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 17:00
