Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Qualified Electrician to join our Facilities Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across our Pretoria North and Johannesburg campuses. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, fixtures, circuit breakers, transformers, and other related equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems to identify potential hazards and ensure proper functioning.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems, using appropriate testing equipment and techniques.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment to extend its lifespan and prevent breakdowns.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant South African electrical codes and safety regulations (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act).
- Maintain accurate records of all electrical work performed, including inspections, repairs, and installations.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors to coordinate electrical work with other projects.
- Respond promptly to emergency electrical issues and perform necessary repairs to minimise disruptions.
- Manage and maintain an inventory of electrical supplies and tools.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols.
- Travel between the Pretoria North and Johannesburg campuses as required.
- Provide support for events and special projects requiring electrical expertise.

- Qualified Electrician: 5 to 6 years
- Wireman's License (Single Phase & Preferable Three Phase: 4 to 5 years
- Recognised Trade Qualification (Eg NQF Level 4 Or Equivalent): 4 to 5 years
- Qualified Electrician with a recognised trade qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4 or equivalent).
- Wireman's License (Single Phase and preferably Three Phase).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a qualified electrician, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting.
- Strong knowledge of South African electrical codes and regulations (e.g., SANS 10142).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems.
- Experience with various types of electrical equipment and tools.
