Job Purpose:
The Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems , ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards . The role involves diagnosing malfunctions, troubleshooting systems, and configuring instrumentation equipment for optimized performance.
The ideal candidate should be technically skilled, hands-on, and comfortable working with electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation components , with the ability to work independently in demanding environments .
Key Responsibilities:

Electrical Installation & System Setup:
-
Plan and install electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.

Read technical drawings and blueprints to determine proper wiring locations and equipment placement .

Install ground leads, power cables, and connections for motors, elements, and various machinery.
-

System Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
-
Diagnose malfunctions in systems, apparatus, and components , and implement corrective actions.
-
Perform repairs and replacements of faulty wiring, equipment, and fixtures using power tools.
-
Evaluate boiler room systems (steam and hydronic) and assist in problem-solving.

Determine and configure instrumentation equipment to meet process requirements.

Program, implement, and fault-find VSD/VFD equipment to optimize system output.

Compile material lists for onsite equipment installation and termination .

Safety & Compliance:

Ensure adherence to building and safety codes when performing installations.
-
Conduct risk assessments before commencing tasks and ensure proper protective measures .
-
Perform physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches for conduit installations .

- Service Technician: 2 to 3 years
-
N3 Electrical Engineering or Millwright qualification .
-
Trade Test in Electrical Engineering or Millwright .
-
Unendorsed driver’s license .
-
Membership with SAGA is advantageous.
-
5+ years’ experience as an electrical and instrumentation technician .
-
Experience with boiler servicing and commissioning is an advantage.
-
Strong knowledge of package boilers .
-
Computer literacy with proficiency in relevant software.
-
Strong technical aptitude with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
-
Ability to work independently and under pressure .
-
Detail-oriented and safety-conscious in all operational tasks.
-
Good problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex system failures.
-
Willingness to travel and work beyond normal hours when required.
Minimum Requirements:

N3 Electrical Engineering or Millwright qualification .
-
Trade Test in Electrical Engineering or Millwright .
-
Unendorsed driver’s license .
-
Membership with SAGA is advantageous.

5+ years’ experience as an electrical and instrumentation technician .
