Description:
Hire Resolve's client, a leading construction company renowned for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across South Africa, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Site Engineer/Site Agent to join their dynamic team in Cape Town.
Responsibilities:
Site Management:
-
Oversee and coordinate site teams, assigning specific tasks and managing outputs for designated sections of work.

Manage subcontractors and trades to ensure seamless integration and progress on-site.
-
Develop, set, and maintain project targets aligned with master programmes.
-

Organize and lead regular site staff meetings and safety committee meetings.
Technical:
-
Update project programmes and formulate short-term plans for review by Project/Contracts Managers.

Ensure production teams work with accurate and current information.

Identify, raise, and resolve technical queries promptly.
-
Prepare detailed contractor reports and address non-conformances effectively.
-
Develop and implement method statements for on-site tasks.
Health, Safety, and Environmental:
-
Maintain good housekeeping practices consistently.
-
Implement and promote robust health and safety conditions on-site.
-
Manage waste and minimize losses/theft through regular checks and controls.
Cost Control:
-
Place orders for approval by the Site Agent, Contracts Manager, or Quantity Surveyor.
-
Manage material control, including monitoring breakages and ensuring correct allocations.
-
Assist the Quantity Surveyor with instructions, ensuring timely costing and submission.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
-
National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Building Science or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
-
Construction Management qualification.
-
Registration with SACPCMP is advantageous.
-
6-8 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
Knowledge and Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Working knowledge of CCS planning and estimating programmes.
-
Familiarity with Construction Regulations, Building Contracts, and Contract Specifications (JBCC/NEC).
-
Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety standards.
-
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.

Comprehensive understanding of construction materials and building practices.
-
Strong grasp of budgeting and cost control principles.
