Description:
Hire Resolve's Client is seeking to hire a Junior Compliance Officer that is based in Cape Town. The role involves providing legal advice, supporting compliance monitoring, overseeing regulatory adherence, and maintaining strong compliance oversight of third-party relationships. This position requires strong analytical skills and a keen understanding of compliance regulations within the financial and insurance sectors.Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Legal Advisory:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Provide management with legal advice and opinions as required.
- Support the Compliance Department in implementing legislation and compliance monitoring.
- Stay informed of legislative developments affecting the business.
- Update policies and procedures in line with regulatory changes.
- Formulate and collate comments on proposed new legislation.
- Develop new policies where necessary.
Compliance Monitoring & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with FAIS, PPRs, POPIA, FICA, LTIA, and the Insurance Act.
- Maintain the Noncompliance Register.
- Assist the Head of Compliance with regulatory reviews, inspections, and investigations.
- Conduct annual compliance onsite visits for third parties.
- Review internal contracts to ensure compliance.
- Monitor compliance with agreements, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and implement Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs).
Advisory & Regulatory Requirements:
- Identify and analyze compliance risks, providing guidance to management and employees.
- Offer advice on compliance issues related to new businesses, claims management, products, and marketing campaigns.
- Keep up to date with regulatory developments and assist in implementing new or amended requirements.
- Assess and advise on the impact of regulatory changes.
- Provide input on drafting proposed regulatory requirements.
Third-Party, Broker Advisory & Intermediary Relations:
- Maintain strong compliance monitoring and oversight for third parties, binders, and intermediaries.
- Oversee management and operations of third parties in accordance with legislative requirements and approved policies.
- Monitor compliance with broker and binder agreements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Compliance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a compliance-related role within the financial services or insurance industry.
- Strong knowledge of FAIS, PPRs, POPIA, FICA, LTIA, and the Insurance Act.
- Understanding of risk management and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
