Job Description:
Lead the design, development, and testing of high-performance electronic hardware solutions. Architect and design schematics and multi-layer PCBs using Altium Designer or equivalent tools. Conduct circuit simulations and analysis to validate designs for performance, power efficiency, and signal integrity. Oversee hardware prototyping, debugging, and optimization to meet product specifications. Define EMI/EMC compliance strategies and design best practices for hardware reliability. Collaborate closely with firmware, software, and mechanical engineers to integrate hardware seamlessly into system-level designs. Guide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Testability) to ensure smooth production and scalability. Evaluate and select components and technologies to meet system requirements, cost constraints, and lifecycle considerations. Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and best practices for hardware development. Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in our products Skills & Experience:
Strong proficiency in schematic design and PCB layout (Altium Designer preferred). Experience with high-speed digital design, signal integrity, and power management. Hands-on expertise in RF design, wireless communication (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, etc.), and low-power systems. Deep understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and compliance testing. Proficiency in hardware debugging and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other lab tools. Knowledge of firmware-hardware interactions, including microcontroller and FPGA integration. Strong experience with manufacturing processes, including DFM and DFT best practices. Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex hardware development projects. Minimum 5+ years of experience in hardware design and development, with a focus on embedded systems Qualification:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic or Mechatonic Engineering Experience with AI acceleration hardware (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, TPU, FPGA-based AI inferencing) - Advantageous Familiarity with edge computing and IoT hardware architectures - Advantageous Knowledge of thermal management and mechanical integration for compact electronics - Advantageous Experience designing low-power, battery-operated systems - Advantageous Understanding of secure hardware design and cryptographic modules - Advantageous Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered
