RESPONSIBILITIESLeadership and Management:
Provide strong leadership to the maintenance team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence. Oversee day-to-day maintenance activities to ensure equipment uptime and operational efficiency. Effectively manage a team of supervisors, artisans, technicians, and support staff. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance practices and equipment reliability. Maintenance Operations:
Oversee the maintenance, servicing, and repair of drill rigs and support equipment. Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and increase equipment lifespan. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures efficiently. Ensure proper inventory management of critical spares and maintenance tools. Planning and Budgeting:
Develop and execute maintenance plans and schedules in alignment with production targets. Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, optimizing costs without compromising quality or safety. Work closely with production and engineering teams to align maintenance activities with operational goals. Safety and Compliance:
Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards. Ensure compliance with mining industry regulations, OEM specifications, and company policies. Conduct regular equipment inspections and audits, implementing corrective actions where necessary. Promote a zero-harm safety culture within the maintenance team. Quality Assurance & Performance Optimization:
Implement maintenance best practices to enhance equipment performance and reliability. Conduct regular performance reviews on plant equipment, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements. Work closely with OEMs and suppliers to ensure optimal performance of machinery. Training and Development:
Identify training needs for the maintenance team and ensure continuous technical development. Mentor and develop a skilled workforce capable of handling complex maintenance challenges. Qualifications:
Trade Qualifications, Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or relevant technical qualification). Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) Mines & Works (highly advantageous). Proven experience in a senior maintenance management role within a mining or drilling environment. Skills and Experience:
Strong leadership and team management skills. Extensive knowledge of heavy mining equipment, drill rigs, and plant maintenance.
