We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading player in the renewable energy sector. They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in solar energy and electrical systems. This role is ideal for a Pr. Eng. (Professional Engineer) registered with ECSA who is looking to make a significant impact in a growing industry.ey Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and oversee the installation of solar energy systems and related mechanical components.
- Integrate solar solutions with electrical infrastructure, ensuring efficient performance and safety.
- Conduct feasibility studies, technical analyses, and simulations to optimize designs and system functionality.
- Manage and mentor junior engineers, offering guidance on technical aspects and industry best practices.
- Provide technical support during project implementation and operational phases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, project managers, and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and regulations, particularly within the renewable energy sector.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- ECSA Registration: Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) in South Africa.
- Degree: BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on solar energy and electrical systems .
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies, particularly solar energy systems and electrical integration.
- Proven experience in project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and overseeing installations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., SANS, IEC).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with simulation software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with energy storage systems and grid integration.
- Previous experience working with contractors and suppliers in the renewable energy sector.
