Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Trade-tested certified artisan (Millwright, Electrician, or Fitter & Turner) or National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in maintenance of injection moulding and extrusion machinery within an automotive or FMCG electrical manufacturing environment.Key Performance Areas Key Work:
Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all injection moulding, extrusion, and auxiliary equipment to minimise downtime. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults to ensure continuous production. Respond promptly to breakdowns, working efficiently to restore production with minimal disruption. Be available for standby duty on a rotational basis, responding to urgent maintenance issues outside of normal working hours. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and prevent recurring faults. Support the installation, commissioning, and modification of new and existing machinery to meet business needs. Work closely with production teams to optimise processes and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Ensure maintenance work complies with local safety regulations (OHSA, SANS, and ISO 9001/IATF 16949 standards). Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) to ensure traceability and compliance with automotive and electrical FMCG industry requirements. Participate in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 6S initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency. Train and mentor junior maintenance staff and production operators on basic machine maintenance.Core Competencies Attributes:
Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and automation systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and mechanical blueprints.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
Knowledge of PLC and robotic programming concepts.
Additional Job-Related Requirements:
Willingness to work shifts and be on standby when required. Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, with experience in PLC troubleshooting
