We invite suitable and qualified candidates to apply for the Raw Material Network Development Manager position for our client in the Automotive Industry, based in Sandton. The role involves acting as a bridge between the Group Raw Material Purchasing and African raw material and automotive associations, as well as supporting public affairs in matters related to local governments. The position also includes managing regional raw material initiatives and engaging in strategic purchasing functions.The role will be based in Sandton; however, the candidate will have to work at the Kariega based plant for the first 3 to 6 months to familiarize with the company. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the management of the Raw Material Regional Office, including personnel, disciplinary, and functional leadership. Represent the company in local associations related to raw materials, politics, and automotive policies in Africa. Develop a centralized database with information on local news, laws, regulations, and subvention programs related to mining and refining industries. Conduct risk analyses of regulations and initiatives to identify opportunities and risks and propose measures for Raw Material Steerers. Report local and regional best practices related to purchasing strategies, alternative materials, and recycling products. Act as a regional liaison between local governments and the company's strategic Raw Material Purchasing team. Collaborate with research institutes and geological organizations to identify new raw material sources and alternative technologies. Manage relationships with local research institutions, automotive, and raw material associations to stay updated on relevant information. Work with the R&D department to organize meetings with potential suppliers and promote regional raw material solutions. Coordinate the application of regional alternative materials and standards in collaboration with the R&D department. Organize and manage Local Tech-Days for potential suppliers to present their offerings. Assist in establishing a supply safety strategy for raw materials, considering market and regulatory aspects. Support Public Affairs in organizing meetings with local government representatives. Qualifications: A recognized university degree or diploma in Engineering, Economics, or a related field. A background in politics, public affairs, or sustainability management is advantageous. Experience Required: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Automotive and/or Mining Industry. Experience in working with automotive/raw material associations in Africa. Key Skills and Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the raw material market, including key materials, producers, countries, and regulations. Understanding of ESG aspects related to critical raw materials. Familiarity with raw material regulations in Africa, specifically for materials such as Copper, Plastics, Aluminum, and others.
