Grade 6–7 English Teacher

Description:

Arrow Academy has an opportunity for a passionate and dedicated English teacher for our Grades 6 and 7 classes. You must have a strong background in English literature, grammar, and writing. You will be responsible for creating and implementing engaging lesson plans that meet the needs and interests of Arrow learners.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor of Education (Intermediate Senior Phase).
• 2+ years experience in a similar role.
• English native speaker fluency in both verbal and written communication.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ClassDojo.

DUTIES

• Set age-appropriate, subject-related goals and expectations for learners.
• Engage in teaching that fosters purposeful progression in learning, and which is consistent with the learning areas and programmes of subjects and grades as determined.
• Establish a classroom environment that stimulates positive learning and actively engages learners.
• Coordinate and control all academic activities of the subject.
• Promote learning through various questioning and discussion techniques.
• Plan, coordinate, control, evaluate, and report on learners’ academic progress
• Keep your observations clear and up-to-date throughout the term.
• Provide interventions and learner support when needed.
• Meet with learners’ parents to discuss learners’ conduct and progress.
• Contribute to the professional development of colleagues by sharing knowledge, ideas, and resources.

The position is based in Centurion.
