Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in the mining equipment industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy diesel-powered mining equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency in challenging mining environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel-powered mining equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, excavators, dozers, and other heavy machinery. Inspect and test equipment for operational reliability, ensuring safety and performance standards are met. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Analyze fault codes and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime. Parts Replacement and Rebuilding: Replace or repair defective parts, components, or systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics. Rebuild and overhaul major components to factory specifications. Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with mining industry regulations. Conduct safety inspections and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed service and repair logs. Report equipment performance issues to management and suggest improvements.Qualifications and Skills:
Education and Certification: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Maintenance preferred. Valid driver’s license; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is an advantage. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in the mining or heavy equipment industry. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical circuits. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
