Description:
The Restaurant Accounts Assistant is responsible for managing and maintaining financial records related to the restaurant's operations within a 5-star boutique hotel. This role ensures accurate processing of financial transactions, assists in budgeting, and supports the restaurant management team with financial reporting and inventory control.Key Responsibilities:Financial Record Keeping: Maintain and update financial records, including invoices, receipts, and expense reports.Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process supplier invoices, verify payments, and ensure timely settlements.Cash & Credit Card Reconciliation: Reconcile daily restaurant revenue, including credit card transactions and cash deposits.Stock Control & Costing: Assist with inventory control, cost calculations, and variance reports.Payroll Assistance: Support payroll processing, including staff hours and gratuity allocations.Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly reports on revenue, expenses, and profit margins.Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in financial planning, cost-saving initiatives, and expenditure tracking.Audit Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial policies, internal controls, and tax regulations.Liaison with Departments: Work closely with the finance team, restaurant managers, and suppliers.- Education: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Management with a financial focus.
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software (e.g., Pastel, QuickBooks, Sage) and restaurant POS systems (e.g., Micros, GAAP).
- Skills:
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
- Knowledge of food and beverage cost control
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience in a luxury hospitality environment is advantageous.
- Familiarity with South African tax laws and financial regulations .
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, if required.
