POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a dynamic and highly skilled Site Manager to join our leadership team at Isambane Mining. The Site Manager will be responsible for overseeing all mining operations, ensuring the safe and efficient extraction of coal, and driving operational excellence. This role is critical in maintaining high production standards, managing personnel, and ensuring that all regulatory compliance and safety standards are met.
As the Site Manager, you will be accountable for the overall performance of the mine, including the planning, coordination, and execution of mining activities. You will also work closely with senior management, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure that the mine’s operations align with the company's business goals and objectives.
Key to this role is the management and development of a skilled team, including a focus on safety, productivity, and cost control. You will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in mining operations, optimizing resources, and maintaining a high standard of environmental stewardship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, manage, and inspire a team of mining professionals, ensuring optimal performance across all levels.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and development opportunities to foster career growth and build a high-performing workforce.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment that promotes innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Operational Oversight:
- Oversee all aspects of mining operations, ensuring smooth and efficient production, including the coordination of resources, scheduling, and workforce management.
- Develop and implement strategies to meet or exceed production targets, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and timelines.
- Monitor operational performance through data analysis, identify areas of improvement, and take corrective actions to optimize productivity.
Safety & Compliance:
- Champion health and safety initiatives, driving a culture of safety across all operations, ensuring compliance with national and international safety regulations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety policies, ensuring all team members are trained and fully equipped to follow protocols.
- Lead risk assessments, hazard identifications, and safety audits. Ensure that corrective actions are taken promptly to mitigate risks and prevent accidents.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Relations:
- Build and maintain strong, effective relationships with regulatory bodies, contractors, suppliers, and local communities.
- Liaise with government agencies, ensuring compliance with mining regulations and environmental standards.
- Prepare and deliver regular reports and updates to senior management and stakeholders regarding operational performance, safety, and compliance.
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Prepare and manage operational budgets, forecasts, and reports, ensuring that all financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Monitor and control costs, optimizing resources and reducing wastage while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, potential savings, and areas requiring improvement.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate new mining technologies, methodologies, and industry trends to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies across operations, ensuring the adoption of best practices and innovative approaches.
MINE HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead by example in prioritizing safety and health, ensuring that all operations comply with the highest safety standards and practices.
- Develop, implement, and review safety training programs, ensuring that every team member is equipped with the knowledge to perform safely.
Accident Investigation & Reporting:
- Take responsibility for investigating accidents, near misses, and safety incidents, identifying root causes, and developing corrective measures.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and track the implementation of safety improvements to prevent recurrence.

- Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Mining Engineering or related field is highly preferred. Additional qualifications in business management or environmental studies will be considered an asset.
- Extensive experience (10 Years) in a senior managerial role within the mining industry, with proven expertise in coal mining operations.
- Demonstrated experience in leading mining teams and overseeing large-scale mining operations, particularly in safety-critical environments.
- Strong background in regulatory compliance, risk management, and environmental sustainability within mining operations.
- In-depth knowledge of mining operations, including coal extraction techniques, drilling and blasting, ventilation, and mine design.
- Expertise in health and safety regulations, and a strong commitment to maintaining safe work environments.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with a strong ability to motivate, coach, and guide a diverse team.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to adapt to changing conditions and resolve complex operational issues.
- Proficiency in mining software (e.g., [list relevant mining software, e.g., Surpac, MineSight]) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Educational Requirements:
- Blasting Certificate
- Competency A Certificate
