Job Summary:
The Security Gate Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the premises by controlling access and monitoring the entry and exit of personnel, vehicles, and materials at the site gate. The position requires vigilance, attention to detail, and strict adherence to security protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Access Control:
Monitor and control the access of employees, contractors, and visitors entering and exiting the premises.
Ensure that all individuals entering or leaving the site have proper authorization and credentials.
Maintain an accurate log of personnel, vehicles, and materials entering and leaving the site.
Surveillance and Monitoring:
Conduct regular checks of the security systems, including CCTV cameras, alarms, and security gates to detect any potential breaches or security threats.
Ensure the safety of all personnel by promptly responding to any suspicious activities or security concerns.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with supervisors, security personnel, and other departments regarding any security-related issues.
Report any incidents, accidents, or breaches immediately to management.
Compliance with Security Procedures:
Follow all company and site-specific security protocols to ensure the integrity of the operation.
Ensure that all security documents and records are accurately maintained.
Emergency Response:
Respond to emergencies such as accidents, fires, or security breaches by implementing the appropriate procedures and alerting relevant authorities if needed.
Customer Service:
Provide excellent customer service by assisting visitors, employees, and contractors with entry and exit procedures.
Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while interacting with all individuals on-site.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: Previous experience in security or similar roles is preferred, especially in a mining or industrial environment.
Education: A minimum of a Grade 12 (matric) certificate.
Security Certificate: Valid security officer certification (Grade C or above).
Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for extended periods and conduct patrolling duties.
Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to report incidents clearly and accurately.
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to monitor individuals, vehicles, and materials effectively.
Problem-Solving: Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
Working Conditions:
The role requires working in a demanding environment with varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
You may be required to work in challenging weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
