Job Summary:
The Earthmoving Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on heavy earthmoving equipment, such as bulldozers, excavators, and loaders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel engines and hydraulic systems, as well as experience working with electronic diagnostic tools. The Earthmoving Diesel Mechanic must be able to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, perform necessary repairs, and conduct regular preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
Responsibilities:
· Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on earthmoving equipment
· Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and greasing
· Attend to breakdowns as needed
· Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs
· Maintain detailed records of all repairs and maintenance performed
· Ensure all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner
· Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment
· Communicate effectively with superiors, coworkers, and operators

Requirements:
- Earthmoving Mechanic: 3 to 4 years
- Opencast Mining: 3 to 4 years
Qualifications:
· Grade 12 or equivalent
· Recognized trade test or formal technical qualification
· Minimum of 3 years of experience working with heavy earthmoving equipment
· Valid driver’s license
· Good knowledge of the MHSA
· Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
· Familiarity with hydraulic systems and components
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
