About the RoleA prestigious venue in the Western Cape is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager of Events to oversee and enhance its world-class event operations. This role requires a dynamic, detail-oriented leader with a strong background in event management, hospitality, and high-end client relations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring seamless event execution, exceptional guest experiences, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of high-profile events, including corporate functions, weddings, and private gatherings.
  • Lead and manage event teams, including coordinators, service staff, and external vendors.
  • Maintain and enhance the venue’s reputation for luxury and excellence.
  • Ensure all events run smoothly, meeting and exceeding client expectations.
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, and operations teams to maximize bookings and revenue.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Handle VIP clients and high-net-worth individuals with discretion and professionalism.
  • Monitor budgets, cost controls, and revenue targets for the events division.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal regulations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in event management at a luxury venue, five-star hotel, or premium hospitality setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and ability to perform under pressure.
  • Outstanding communication and client service skills.
  • Knowledge of event logistics, catering operations, and high-end hospitality standards.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and industry stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holiday events as required.
