Description:
The Energy Efficiency Electrician/Energy Auditor is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems within buildings and structures. The Energy Auditor also conducts energy audits and assists with business development in pursuit of Energy Service Company (ESCO) contracts. Education and Qualifications:- Minimum - Degree in Electrical Engineering
- ECSA – Professional Engineer/Candidate
- Desirable but not mandatory: Completed CEM or CEA course
- Desirable but not mandatory: PV Green Card
Education and Experience:
- Minimum qualification of a diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent – Mandatory
- Wireman’s license/registered with the Department of Labor OR in the process of obtaining one (with proof of application) – Mandatory
- At least 3 years’ experience in electrical installations within energy efficiency, metering, lighting, or Solar PV Projects – Mandatory (at least one)
- Valid driver’s license
- PV Green Card – Advantageous but not mandatory
Desired Skills & Abilities:
- Efficiency auditing
- Meter audits
- Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams and electrical drawings
- Knowledge of lighting systems, electricity smart meters, lighting control systems, Solar PV, battery, and inverter systems
- Experience with test meters and other diagnostic equipment
- Understanding of electricity metering and communication technologies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Understanding of SANS 10142, SANS 10114-1, SANS 10389-1, and SANS 10098-1
- Preferential: Driver’s license and driving experience
