We are currently implementing an AgriSETA project focusing on the following qualification:

  • Qualification 49010: Plant Production NQF5

We are seeking qualified and experienced Facilitators/Assessors to join our dynamic team for this initiative.


Job Purpose:

The Facilitator for Qualification 49010 – Plant Production (NQF 5) will be responsible for delivering high-quality, practical, and theoretical training in plant production to learners. The facilitator will guide students through the curriculum, ensuring they gain the skills and knowledge required to manage plant production systems, improve crop yields, and ensure sustainable agricultural practices. This role requires an individual with a deep understanding of plant production, sustainability in agriculture, and the ability to inspire and engage learners.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Facilitate Learning:

  • Deliver training sessions to students on topics related to plant production, including crop management, soil fertility, pest control, irrigation, and plant health.
  • Ensure that the delivery of training aligns with the standards and requirements of Qualification 49010 and meets NQF 5 guidelines.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement, participation, and motivation.

2.Course Delivery:

  • Prepare and plan lesson plans, training materials, and assessments according to the curriculum.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, hands-on demonstrations, practical fieldwork, and group activities.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including different learning styles and abilities.

3.Assessment and Feedback:

  • Conduct formative and summative assessments to evaluate learners’ progress.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to learners on their performance.
  • Assist learners in preparing for practical and theoretical assessments, ensuring that they meet the required competencies.

4.Practical Application:

  • Supervise and support students in practical sessions, ensuring they can apply theoretical knowledge in real-world agricultural settings.
  • Ensure that all practical activities are conducted in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.

5.Learner Support:

  • Provide additional support to learners as needed, including one-on-one tutoring and mentoring.
  • Monitor student attendance and participation, addressing any challenges or concerns with the appropriate support staff.

6.Course Administration:

  • Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, assessments, and progress.
  • Ensure that all administrative duties related to course delivery are completed on time (e.g., marking assignments, updating records).
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum by providing feedback based on learner outcomes and industry trends.

7.Health and Safety:

  • Ensure that health and safety protocols are followed during practical sessions and farm-based activities.
  • Promote safe practices for handling tools, equipment, and chemicals used in plant production.

8.Professional Development:

  • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in plant production and sustainable agriculture.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities, such as workshops, conferences, and training.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of a National Diploma or Degree in Plant Production, Agriculture, or a related field (NQF Level 5 or higher).
  • At least 3-5 years of practical experience in plant production, crop management, or a related agricultural field.
  • Proven experience in teaching, training, or facilitating in an educational or agricultural setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of NQF-level qualifications and assessment processes in agricultural education is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of plant production systems, crop management techniques, soil science, pest control, and sustainable farming practices.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging and effective training programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with learners and colleagues.
  • Ability to assess, evaluate, and provide feedback to learners effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other relevant software for administration and record-keeping.
