Description:

REPORTING TO THE TOOLROOM TEAM LEADER, INJECTION MOULDING
JOB PURPOSE:
To manufacture moulds and tools used in the company’s manufacturing processes. This includes reading and interpreting technical drawings or computer-generated designs to machine moulds and tools.
JOB FUNCTION:
Production
Ensure that projects are manufactured and assembled according to drawing and required quality standards
Carry out sample trials of tools to ensure mouldings are correct and repaired if required.
Setting of machines and processing equipment to specification
Optimisation of manufacturing processes for own work to reduce tooling costs
Ensure General housekeeping is maintained as per departmental standards Inspection and Maintenance
Inspect equipment daily and repair where required.
Report on condition of equipment on weekly basis.
Interpretation and rectification of deviations.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance as per OHS regulations, quality standards and maintenance procedures. Compliance
Ensure Quality and safety standards are adhered to.
Ensure PPE is used as required by legislation.
Quality management system is maintained in work area as per departmental standards

Requirements:

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12 or Technical Qualification.
Qualification/Trade Certificate in Tool & Die-Making
5 years relevant experience in post-apprenticeship.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Attention to detail, good communication skills, innovative, quality and safety orientated,
Applications knowledge:
Displays good knowledge of CAD /CAM, CNC Code and MS Office Suite.
Equipment knowledge:
Displays a good working knowledge of milling, turning, grinding, electrical plunge sparking and other tool room machines.
Draughting knowledge:
Is able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Mechanical knowledge: Is able to use precise measuring devices and instruments Displays basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Product knowledge: Understands the properties and characteristics of metals and other materials used for moulds and tools.
Displays good knowledge of the processing equipment that utilise mould and tool dies.
Is able to discuss the properties and processing behaviour of polymer materials
