Senior Imports Manager

Description:

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in an import management role within the retail, supply chain, logistics, or FMCG sectors, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.

A solid understanding of finance, specifically related to purchase orders, is crucial, as well as proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the entire import process, from order placement to product delivery, ensuring compliance with regulations and timely execution Manage relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs agents to ensure smooth import operations Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate forecasting and inventory management Ensure all necessary documentation for imports, including bills of lading, invoices, and shipping documents, are accurately processed and filed Negotiate freight rates and terms with suppliers and logistics providers Review and approve purchase orders, ensuring that they align with budgetary and financial goals Monitor import costs, tariffs, and duties to minimize expenses and optimize profitability Track and analyze import performance, providing regular reports and recommendations to improve processes Ensure compliance with import regulations, customs, and trade laws, including documentation, permits, and certifications Implement and improve import procedures to streamline operations and reduce lead times Supervise and mentor the import team, providing guidance and support for development
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field 5 years of experience in an import management role, with at least 2 years in a managerial position Strong knowledge of import regulations, customs requirements, and international shipping Solid understanding of financial processes, including purchase order management Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Excellent negotiation, organisational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team development and performance Experience in the retail, FMCG, or supply chain industries Knowledge of global trade practices and emerging trends in import/export regulations
