Qualifications and Skills:
- Grade 12
- Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) OR Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
- Safety Management Training Course (SAMTRAC) – Advantages
- 3 - 5 years administrative and technical experience in a Health and Safety environment.
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA).
- Incident Investigation.
- Internal Auditing
- Strong knowledge of Emergency Evacuation Procedures.
- Proficient in safety auditing and risk assessment methodologies.
- Knowledge of Business Ethics.
- Knowledge of relevant Legislations - Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations, notices and guidelines
- as well as other relevant safety, health and environmental legislation and local bylaws.)
- Code 8/10 drivers’ license & own transport.
- Computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- Experience with integrated safety management system (ISMS).
- Basic knowledge of HACCP System and Pre-requisite programmes - Advantages.
- Project management skills.
- Strong communications skills and ability to influence positive change and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
- Solid record of attention to detail and strict adherence to procedures and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with OHS, National Health, and Environmental Acts.
- Manage and maintain Safety and SHE performance
- Compile, draft and implement environmental management plans and environmental risk assessments on site.
- Facilitate and investigate all accident and investigations within the workplace in line with 16.2. requirements.
- Compile SHE files, documentation and communication.
- Managing the Safety and Environment Risk and Impact assessment program
- Provide monthly report incidents, near misses, injuries and corrective actions
- Receive SHE Representative inspection reports and document action lists based on risk of deviations identified.
- Maintenance safety management• Manage, review, audit and approve sub-contractor SHE Files before working on site
- Manage and assist external OHS related audits by customers or authorities as required.
- Ensure staff development and adherence to OHS policies and procedures
- Provide safety training and coaching to employees, create awareness of health and safety practices
