Are you an experienced Imports Manager with a strong track record in overseeing end-to-end import operations? My client, a leading company in the logistics industry, is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Imports Manager to take charge of their international supply chain, ensuring seamless import processes, compliance, and efficiency.Key Responsibilities
Import Strategy & Operational Management- Oversee and manage the full import function , ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Develop and implement import strategies to optimize processes, reduce costs, and improve lead times.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance, freight forwarding partners, and third-party logistics providers.
- Ensure full compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and local import laws.
- Handle all import documentation, including bills of lading, customs clearance, tariffs, and duties .
- Liaise with customs brokers, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders to mitigate risks and avoid delays.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers and service providers.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with freight forwarders to optimize costs and service levels.
- Work closely with procurement, finance, and operations teams to align import strategies with business objectives.
- Monitor import costs, duty structures, and foreign exchange fluctuations to control expenditure.
- Conduct cost analysis and reporting , providing insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
- Identify potential risks in the import process and develop mitigation strategies .
- Lead and mentor the imports team, ensuring high performance, accountability, and continuous development.
- Set objectives, monitor KPIs, and implement best practices for efficient import operations .
- Drive innovation and process improvements within the department.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5-10 years of hands-on experience in imports, with at least 3-5 years in a senior managerial role .
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, freight forwarding, import documentation, and incoterms .
- Proven track record of leading import teams and driving operational efficiencies .
- Experience in supplier negotiations, cost optimization, and risk management .
- Familiarity with ERP systems and import management software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
