Description:
Purpose of the role:
To assist the Exploration Geologist in collecting and logging lithological chip samples from the drilling sites, report on daily site activities and compile weekly drilling reports that are to be reviewed by the Exploration Geologist and submitted to the Petroleum Agency of South Africa (PASA). All exploration information will also be recorded into an electronic logging sheet, updated daily and saved to the designated server. Position reports to: Senior Exploration Geologist and Site Drilling Manager and will be based in Virginia, Free State Province.
Qualifications and experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in an exploration environment National Senior Certificate Degree in BSc. Geology BSc Hons. GeologyResponsibilities:
Report on site activities and the drilling progress to the Exploration team Logging of lithological chip samples during drilling and report on the lithology unit(s) and potential structures Update the electronic logging sheet daily and save to the server Collect the drillers daily reports, utilise the information contained in the reports to compile the weekly reports that will be reviewed and submitted to PASA
