Our client is searching for a Workshop Foreman to join their team in Akasia.
The Workshop & Tyre Foreman is responsible for the workshop and wash bay. The Workshop Foreman is responsible for ensuring that work done (repair and maintenance of taut liner and tipper trailers) is done according to the required standards as well as to ensure that the wash bay is maintained and kept clean.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist HR with the recruitment and hiring of new workshop and wash bay employees. Orientation and training of new employees. Create and manage employee work schedules. Assigns duties to workshop and wash bay employees Oversee employees’ work, tasks and standards. Process work orders. Enter job card information into the database. Maintain work records and files. Assists in repair, maintenance or other tasks involved in work orders. Review work completed to ensure it is up to quality standards. Enforce all health and safety policies in the workshop and wash bay. Ensure that all deadlines are met. Addresses and resolves issues and complaints. Inspect workshop, wash bay and other equipment. Fix and service or arrange for equipment and machinery to be fixed and serviced as necessary. Order supplies. Operate workshop machinery and equipment when required. Ensure that the workshop and wash bay are clean, organized, and free of dangerous materials.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrate strong leadership skills. Possess detailed knowledge of trailer repairs – tautliner and side tipper. Works well with a team. Exhibit strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Possesses solid analytical and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrate awareness of all health and safety protocols. Can remain calm and clear-headed in an emergency. Manage time efficiently. Can multi-task effectively. Pay attention to detail. Demonstrate strong organizational skills. Possess basic computer skills. Able to read, interpret, and compose work orders. Communicate clearly and effectively. Capable of translating industry terminology into straightforward terms for explanatory purposes. Qualified to operate heavy machinery.Education and Experience
Gr 12 or equivalent. Qualified mechanic or similar – as in the process of obtaining qualification. 2 years or more workshop experience within a transport or logistics environment. 2 years or more experience working on tautliner and/or tipper trailers.Work Environment
Time will be split between the workshop (80%) and the wash bay (20%). A standard
