Description:
We are looking for a Head Storeman for a 5 star Hotel in the Pretoria North area. Position overview:The Head Storeman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store and managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods and supplies. This role involves leading the store team, ensuring the efficient management of stock levels, and maintaining the organization and cleanliness of storage areas. The Head Storeman will work closely with the purchasing and operations teams to support the needs of the business and ensure smooth daily operations.
He/she also verifies that all supplies and goods received are listed on requisitions/orders and the delivery challans, invoices are checked and filed in the appropriate folder. The head storeman is also responsible stock takes in conjunction with the stores administrator and purchasing manager. They are responsible for managing stock rotation and monitoring expiry dates, ensuring the use of the first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory system when receiving and issuing stock.
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- 1+ years' experience as a storeman
- Drivers license (Essential)
- Own transport (Essential)
- Fluent in English
- MS. Office
- Due to the nature of the hotel industry must be available after hours and over weekends
- Capable of lifting and moving goods as required for the role
- Supervise and train store staff, ensuring they adhere to procedures and maintain high standards of organization, safety, and efficiency.
- Monitor stock levels, perform regular stock takes and address discrepancies. Ensure that stock levels meet operational requirements without overstocking or running out of essential supplies.
- Oversee and receive all goods and deliveries in and out of the hotel to the correct point of contact/storage area.
- Issuing, delivery off all stock requisition to the various outlets of the Hotel.
- Stock Takes and all that it entails.
- Using first-out (FIFO) inventory system when receiving and issuing stock.
- Receive all goods and deliveries in and out of the hotel to the correct point of contact/storage area. Responsible to verify all goods arrived as per the agreed purchase, delivery note and agreed quantity has been received. Refuse acceptance of damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items
- Able to follow standards for issuing and receiving stock within the store's area of operation. Keep accurate recordings of all incoming and outgoing goods.
- Stock takes of various inventory items on regular basis as needed by the procurement manager.
- Responsible for storage of both food & beverage and operational stock as per Health and Safety Standard.
- Responsible for the day-to-day check on the storage facilities for upkeep and hygiene
- Ensure cleanliness of all areas, keeping storage areas clean & tidy and in strict compliance with hygiene regulations.
- Ensure the quantity requested and the quantity issued to outlets always correct. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager on any items that is not in stock or that could not be delivered.
- Ensure Issue requisition form is signed by the person receiving the goods
- Complete requisition forms for inventory and supplies.
- Ensure all invoices and Internal requisitions are given through to the store administrator daily processing
- Work closely with Purchasing to order and receive items and equipment.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures particularly relating to storage of Perishable items
- Notify the store manager/supervisor of any low stock levels.
- Deliver stock based on requisitions to the various outlets.
- Stock Rotation and Expiry Dates: Implement and monitor stock rotation using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) system.
- Ensure products are used before their expiration dates.
