Our client in the Manufacturing industry is looking for a results-driven Production Manager to join their team in Chloorkop, Midrand, Gauteng . In this role, you will play a key part in maximizing profitability of existing products while driving innovation and expansion within their portfolio. - Evaluate and factor in MRP sales forecasts in production planning for the month ahead and prioritises critical and unforeseen issues according to strict timelines.
- Create and manage production schedules for on-time products completion.
- Partner with Procurement to ensure that all required and relevant raw materials are on-hand in sufficient quantities and available.
- Partner with Dispatch to ensure required stock is on-hand and ready for delivery to customers with no delays, distinguishing between local and export packaging & labelling requirements as per customer specifications.
- Ensure all OHS and quality standards are met, conduct ad-hoc inspections to ensure adherence to OHS and Quality standards and aim to achieve an incident free operation.
- Effectively manage the fault-finding process in cases where a product tests "out-of-specification”
- Continuously monitor production, resolve issues and immediately communicate and/or escalate to senior management on all issues impacting production.
- Pro-actively evaluate production equipment and schedule regular maintenance for equipment to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
- Proactively manage the production team by ensuring adequate scheduling of staff and setting daily productivity goals for each production line.
- Motivate, support and train production staff to ensure they are equipped and able to produce the required products at the expected quality standard.
- Maintain up to date and accurate production records, ensure metrics, reports, and production documentation is available.
- Ensure efficiency during the production process and implement improvements to the production process when required with the approval of the relevant senior manager.
- Continually evaluate production workflow procedures to identify areas where efficiency can be improved without compromising safety or quality.
- Analyse budgets and continuously control production costs and identify/rectify waste measures.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Education: Grade12 plus relevant 3-year degree/diploma.
- Minimum of 5 years' production management experience, experience in production within the chemical industry is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, numeracy and computer literacy skills.
- Excellent people management skills and management of staff.
- Ability to identifying problems and implement preventative strategies to minimise risk.
- Being able to develop good working relationships and trust with various teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytic ability and be very detail oriented.
- Working well with many different departments and external suppliers.
- Always keeping the customer in mind.
- Follow principles for continual improvement
- Being results and deadline driven.
