As a Cost Accountant you will responsible for the following:
- Process contract/job costing on a daily basis.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in contract costs.
- Reconcile the contract costing system with the general ledger.
- Finalize and report monthly contract costing by the 3rd business day after month-end.
- Ensure adherence to and improve monthly reporting timelines.
- Compile monthly management accounts and related reports.
- Perform month-end accounting tasks, including rolling over subledgers and processing journal entries.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and address any discrepancies promptly.
- Perform VAT reconciliations.
- Maintain cashbooks and perform bank reconciliations.
- Collate, analyze, and report on vehicle fleet costs.
- Monitor and report on scaffolding utilization.
- Prepare and manage amortization of finance leases.
- Allocate intercompany costs and perform intercompany reconciliations.
- Allocate salary and wage costs through journals and reconciliations.
- Implement internal controls and oversee the transition to digitization within areas of responsibility.
- Support Finance's technology strategy by assisting with system implementations and conducting tests of new systems.
- Conduct detailed analysis and interrogation of expenses.
- Maintain and update fixed asset registers.
- Prepare audit files for areas of responsibility.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
Completed Bcom Accounting
2 – 5 years’ experience in cost accounting.
Experience in accounting for construction contracts is preferred.
