Description:
An Engineering Technician supports engineers in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining various engineering projects and systems. This role requires applying technical expertise and practical skills to assist in the planning and implementation phases of projects.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY.
Surveying and Data Collection
Conduct site surveys and collect data for engineering projects. Measure and analyse land features, elevations, and boundaries.Design and Drafting
Assist engineers with drafting designs, technical drawings, and project blueprints using CAD software. Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects.Project Management Support
Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met. Assist in managing project documentation, including permits and compliance reports.Field Inspections and Quality Control
Conduct field visits to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards. Identify and document any issues or variances during construction.Technical Report Preparation
Compile and prepare technical reports and documentation related to project activities. Maintain accurate records of project plans, timelines, and materials used.Collaboration and Communication
Work collaboratively with civil engineers, contractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Communicate project updates, challenges, and solutions as needed.EDUCATION, LANGUAGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma in Engineering Technology or related field B ComESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with relevant building codes, construction standards, and project management methodologies. Proficiency in CAD software, surveying equipment, and relevant computer applications. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
