Description:
Key Responsibilities:Cost Estimation: Assist in the preparation of accurate cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, including material, labor, and equipment costs. Tendering and Procurement: Support the tendering process by preparing bills of quantities, evaluating bids, and assisting in the selection of contractors and suppliers. Contract Administration: Manage and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions, and processing variations and change orders. Cost Control: Monitor project costs, prepare cost reports, and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures throughout the project lifecycle. Valuations and Payments: Prepare valuations for interim and final payments, ensuring timely and accurate payment to contractors and suppliers. Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks associated with project costs and contracts, and work with the team to mitigate these risks. Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, verify measurements, and ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards. Client Liaison: Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
Qualifications and Experience: Education: Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Experience: 5-7 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction/engineering or mining industry. Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction processes, contract law, and cost management principles. Software Proficiency: Experience with quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Certifications: Professional certifications such as RICS or equivalent are advantageous but not required.
