Media24 has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager in their Finance division. The incumbent will report to the Divisional CFO and will be based in Cape Town.Main Purpose of the Role
The Finance Manager is responsible for the timely and accurate monthly general ledger close process. This position will be responsible for managing the company consolidation and reporting function. To provide financial analysis, advice and support to managers and to manage a finance department according to sound financial systems, practices and processes that are compliant with relevant legislation, meet principles of international best practices and principles that will allow the business unit, division and company to achieve its strategic financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

- Design, implement and monitor policies, procedures and processes for the team and the division, in compliance with divisional and group financial strategy;
- Establish and review the division’s financial integrity, performance and its reporting (monthly management accounts, statutory reporting) by managing mechanisms for budgeting, financial controls, accounting, costing, reporting, treasury and funding;
- Manage and ensure IFRS compliance and legal compliance (relevant acts including but not limited to Companies Act, Income Tax Act, Securities Exchange Act, Consumer Protection Act, Electronic Communication Act);
- Supervise all regular accounting processes plus monthly closure of accounts across all stakeholders in the business units;
- Review the preparation and revision of departmental budgets and forecasts against the business plans;
- Develop and consolidate the company’s annual budgets and forecasts including balance sheet and cash flow;
- Ensure that monthly and annual accounts are compiled and that annual accounting packs are audited;
- Ensure that accurate financial analysis (including budget, forecast and variance), reports and schedules are provided as required, including monthly management reports to group finance, consolidations of interim and annual financial packs etc;
- Manage budget and resources so that the team is placed to deliver on its strategies;
- Ensure that the monthly creditors’ days and the creditors’ exposure is within the acceptable limits;
- Ensure debtors’ days are within the targets per category;
- Build relationships with Debtors with the aim of improving cash flow management;
- Ensure treasury function is optimally managed to improve working capital efficiency and overall cashflow of the company;
- Continuously look at ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency;
- Research, prepare and present information to CFO/Divisional CEO’s as requested eg financial models, scenarios etc based on requests from CEO;
- Liaise with internal and external auditors as required;
- Coach, share knowledge and mentor more junior employees;
- Assist the CFO with strategic financial management and projects.

Preferred
Qualification
Tertiary qualification in accounting / finance.
CA (SA) or similar qualification.
Experience
5-8 year’s relevant experience
At least 5 years’ experience managing a finance team
IFRS experience
Experience in relevant industry.
Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation;
Thorough knowledge of International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS);
Sound knowledge of budgeting processes;
Knowledge of People Management processes and employee relations; and
Proficiency in relevant software packages and applications.
