Our client is looking for an LCA / Carbon Footprint Engineer to join their team in Cape Town, WC. The company operates within the agriculture and food system, providing consulting services and online applications that support sustainability efforts across international supply chains. The successful candidate will play a key role in carbon footprinting and life cycle assessment (LCA) projects, contributing to the development and implementation of sustainability strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver CF & LCA consulting projects and products.
- Develop carbon footprint, LCA, and carbon sequestration models and data collection tools.
- Interpret and integrate the latest CF, LCA, and sequestration/removal protocols and standards.
- Validate and analyze client CF & LCA data.
- Manage projects and engage with clients.
- Conduct desk and field research in relevant sustainability fields.
- Develop emissions and sequestration calculation tools and solutions.
- Prepare reports and presentations on findings and recommendations.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Engineering (Chemical, Industrial, or similar).
- Passion for sustainability with knowledge of carbon emissions measurement, LCA, carbon sequestration/removals, and carbon emissions reporting.
- Work experience in a related field.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Ability to research, interpret, and apply detailed CF, LCA, and sequestration methodologies and protocols.
- Experience with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard is an advantage.
- Proficiency in LCA software such as OpenLCA or SimaPro is beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present results and engage with clients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written English skills; Afrikaans proficiency is an advantage.
- Strong client service orientation, adaptability, and time management skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and take initiative.
- Valid SA driver’s license and own transport.
- Salary: negotiable.
