An established luxury lodge and hotel group in Southern Africa seeks a junior social media specialist to join the robust team of professionals based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The group boasts iconic safari lodges and boutique properties which enjoy a strong international market. The social media specialist is a new role within the organization, and the relevant candidate will be expected to bring new and fresh ideas to the forum that are in line with the latest social media trends.The Junior Social Media Specialist should bring our brand to life online, drive direct bookings and showcase the essence of our brand. We are looking for someone to lead our social media presence across various platforms. The ideal candidate will be passionate about luxury travel (including wildlife), skilled in content creation and focused on driving revenue through owned channels. The main responsibility will be for curating and executing high-impactful social media content that enhances brand awareness, engages our audience, and ultimately increases engagement and most importantly, direct bookings.Key ResponsibilitiesSocial Media:Content Creation and Storytelling:Community Engagement and Brand Building:Social Commerce and Direct Booking Growth:Analytics and Performance Reporting:Influencer and Supplier Management:Collaboration and Cross-Department Coordination:Administrative Tasks:- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications (preference)
- 3 years of experience in social media management, preferably in luxury hospitality or travel
- Proven experience driving direct revenue through organic social media efforts
- Strong understanding of luxury brand positioning and high-net-worth customer engagement
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube)
- Experience with social media scheduling and analytical tools
- Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills
- Basic design and video editing skills
- Experience in working with influencers and content creators
- Strong ability to multitask, manage campaigns, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
