Description:

Cape Town – Northern Suburbs: My client, a well-established name in the FMCG industry, a company specialising in premium culinary essentials is seeking to employ a detail-driven and proactive Assistant Buyer to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about procurement and eager to grow in a fast-paced retail environment. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in sourcing and purchasing goods and services aligned with business needs
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure effective communication
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment to avoid shortages
  • Analyse historical sales data to make informed buying decisions
  • Negotiate pricing and terms to optimize cost savings
  • Track market trends and provide insights to support purchasing strategies
  • Process purchase orders and follow up on deliveries for on-time arrival
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure data integrity in systems
  • Work closely with internal teams to streamline procurement processes
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement best practices
Criteria for the role:
  • Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • 1-2 years of buying or procurement experience, preferably in FMCG
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of procurement software would be an advantage
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data effectively
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans and English)
  • Residing in or near the Northern Suburbs is preferred
