Cape Town – Northern Suburbs: My client, a well-established name in the FMCG industry, a company specialising in premium culinary essentials is seeking to employ a detail-driven and proactive Assistant Buyer to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about procurement and eager to grow in a fast-paced retail environment. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Assist in sourcing and purchasing goods and services aligned with business needs
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure effective communication
- Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment to avoid shortages
- Analyse historical sales data to make informed buying decisions
- Negotiate pricing and terms to optimize cost savings
- Track market trends and provide insights to support purchasing strategies
- Process purchase orders and follow up on deliveries for on-time arrival
- Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure data integrity in systems
- Work closely with internal teams to streamline procurement processes
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement best practices
- Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field
- 1-2 years of buying or procurement experience, preferably in FMCG
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Knowledge of procurement software would be an advantage
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data effectively
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Fully bilingual (Afrikaans and English)
- Residing in or near the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town is preferred
