Our client is seeking a mature candidate with a robust skill set, particularly in operational management, strong leadership, customer service, and HR based at their Durban Head office.
- Customer service orientation - able to handle a demanding customer environment

- Can communicate with the team and contribute to the overall success of the team
- Understanding of INCOTERMS
- Understanding process flow from each department and implementing changes on the operational systems
- Strong operation systems control
- Adaptable as this is a constantly changing environment
Duties include not limited to:
- Managing the forwarding, registration, entries, transport, releases, NVOCC and warehouse departments
- Managing servicing and maintaining existing business
- Managing the operational system and controls
- Assist in negotiating better rates with import transporters
- Managing of staff with human resources
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Manage full import function ie: forwarding, registration, NVOCC, entries, release, transport and warehouse, excluding invoicing
- Assist in managing the invoice and estimate department when required
- Manage staff under your control, training and discipline of staff in conjunction with the HR department
- Manage servicing and existing business
- Quality checks on shipping files for imports - invoicing and endorsements
- Manage accruals and provisional revenue for imports department
- Disbursement files queries to be dealt with for imports processes and IT
- Manage operating system ie: number of users, users access, reports, charge codes and any changes on the system
- Sign and approve eft over r 50 000 and petty cash requisitions
- Follow up and monitor payments for cash customers
- Managing records for imports shipments number
- Sign and approve staff leave for imports
- Check on and assist import departments with any issues as required
- Conduct regular internal audit for quality check: email, edoc and kpi times are maintained from file opening to closure
- Adhere to company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary action when required
- Monitor SOP's and document flow and is working correctly in imports department
- Assist and monitor the paperless file process
- Monitor debtors limit and assist where necessary
- Conduct bi-annual audit on transporters
- Monitor transport rates
- Maintain high staff morale
- Maintain fixed asset sent to staff for imports department
