Hire Resolve's Client is seeking to hire a Senior Surveyor to join their team in Wellington. The Senior Surveyor is responsible for overseeing surveying activities, ensuring accuracy in measurements, alignment, and quality control. Key duties include planning surveys, managing equipment, training staff, and ensuring compliance with safety and contractual requirements. The role also involves monitoring costs, addressing discrepancies, and maintaining effective communication with engineers, clients, and stakeholders.1. PLANNING
- Develop and submit weekly site visit plans based on priorities and requirements to the Contracts Manager.
- Organize and schedule annual in-house training sessions for survey students and relevant personnel.
- Oversee the management of all survey equipment, including issuing, inspections, servicing, record-keeping, and necessary repairs (e.g., cable detectors, Troxlers, and lasers).
2. TEAM MANAGEMENT
- Ensure that team leaders and operators receive all necessary information before commencing work.
- Provide training to students and tachymeter operators in alignment with company standards.
- Assess and guide student surveyors, addressing any areas of improvement.
- Maintain clear and open communication at all levels.
- Verify that the horizontal and vertical alignment of installed services is accurate.
- Implement disciplinary measures when required.
3. EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT
- Ensure the safekeeping, accuracy, and maintenance of issued instruments and tools.
- Conduct regular checks on surveying instruments and report findings.
- Report any equipment damages or issues to the Contracts Manager.
4. SURVEYING
- Verify the accuracy of all benchmarks, survey beacons, and existing connection points.
- Establish sufficient benchmarks to ensure precise setting out of works.
- Identify and report any discrepancies between plans and existing site conditions.
- Check previous day’s levels, particularly where work is ongoing.
- Stay updated on new developments and techniques in surveying.
- Monitor and confirm level and alignment accuracy during construction.
- Report any deviations immediately.
- Ensure that the horizontal and vertical alignment of installed services meets specifications.
5. COST MANAGEMENT
- Measure daily work progress and complete survey and costing sheets where necessary.
- Assign appropriate cost codes for fuel and labor when applicable.
6. CONTRACT MANAGEMENT
- Perform setting out activities in accordance with drawings, specifications, documentation, and company standards.
- Maintain and update the plan register.
- Ensure the accuracy of as-built information.
- Survey and document existing ground levels, reporting any inconsistencies.
- Maintain survey records in compliance with company standards.
- Uphold quality standards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Follow the correct communication channels when coordinating with engineers.
7. PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Foster positive relationships with engineers, clients, and the public.
- Remain mindful of public access and any contractual requirements.
- Notify the Site Agent of potential issues related to site access or other concerns.
